About Kylie & Family
Kylie is 10 years old and lives in Naugatuck with her mom and dad, Kelly and Mike along with her four year old sister Savanna. Kylie attends Hop Brook School and she is a girl scout, soccer player, and wonderful artist.
In March of 2011 Kylie was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma. It was an unimaginable nightmare for our family. Our lives completely stopped and were thrown into a world of hospitals, scans, needles, and terminology we were unfamiliar with.
Over the next year, Kylie was to receive chemotherapy, radiation, and surgeries to overcome this monster. She had periods of sickness, weakness, and fear. But throughout the process she remained strong as though nothing was happening.
February 2012, Kylie finally completed
46 weeks of intense chemotherapy. MRI
and CT scans have confirmed no evidence
of disease(terminology of oncologists). She
continues to do well and receives
periodic scans and regular Oncology
Kylie has traveled a long road, but with prayers and support from her friends, family, neighbors, and community, she has overcome this bump in the road.
Unfortunately, a diagnosis of cancer never truely ends. We as parents will always be worried about her. We are constantly remaining vigilant and checking for things that are awry. We have to worry about every headache she gets, every natural body change is an unknown to us, normal or not.
Courage for Kylie
Courage for Kylie was originally set up to organize support with friends and family on fundraisers and such for Kylie. We have now shifted this site to spread awareness on childhood cancer, offer support to other families, and support local and national fundraising organizations we feel exceptionally worthy.
Organizations we support.
Message from Kylie & Family
We want to thank everyone for your prayers and support. We have been amazed by the outpooring of help and kind gestures we've received. The community of Naugatuck, Hop Brook School, PSA, and friends have really made this a lot easier for our family.
